Ebook About
In Stronger, the widow of Senator John McCain opens up about her beloved husband, their thirty-eight-year marriage, and the trials and triumphs of a singular American life. My husband, John McCain, never viewed himself as larger than life—but he was. He had more tenacity and resolve than anybody I ever met. Being with him didn’t hold me back—it gave me flight, a courage I never would have felt on my own. Cindy Hensley was just out of college when she met and fell in love with the celebrated Navy hero John McCain. They embarked on a thrilling life together that put her at the center of American politics for over four decades. Stronger, her moving and inspiring memoir, tells the story of her adventurous life with John for the first time.  Raising their four children in Arizona while John flourished as a six-term senator in Washington, D.C., Cindy McCain brought her own flair to the role of political wife. She eagerly supported John’s career even as she tried hard to stay out of the spotlight and maintain her own health and well-being. In Stronger, she is honest in revealing her own successes and missteps, discussing how she dealt with political attacks targeting her children, her battle with opioid addiction, and the wild whirl of campaigning for president. As they built their life together, Cindy and John continued the multi-generation McCain tradition of service to country. With both immense pride and deep worry, she sent two sons off to active duty in the military. She describes her own brave efforts bringing medical support to countries in crisis and empowering women in Africa and around the world. And she reveals her feelings about the tumultuous effects of the Trump presidency on the military. Most important, this book shares how John’s humor and strength helped Cindy grow into the confident woman she is now. More than a political story, Stronger is the unforgettable journey of one woman who believes in family, honor, and country—and is willing to stand up for all of them.

Book Stronger: Courage, Hope, and Humor in My Life with John McCain Review :

First I want to mimic President Biden and say: I am a Democrat. I loved John McCain. I had always watched him, and what he would be involved in next. This book is so real, it brings tears and laughter both at one time or another through the book. The McCain family are quite a family. I started watching the View and love Meghan and some of the things she comes up with and says. She reminds me of me. No holds barred when one believes in something, no matter what it is or what others think of it. Cindy, I am so very sorry you had to take the stuff from ( the former guy ) as President Biden now calls him. He wanted what John had, he wanted his intelligence, honesty, forthrightness, love and empathy, and when he couldn't get it, these types turn on you, they are cowards for real! They don't care about the person they are hurting or the family they are making sick, they just want their energy, their essence their strengths, and their soul, and the love and empathy and they can't get it. I feel so bad that you had to go through this and especially right around the time of John's illness and then his death. I hope and pray that all of our other Past Presidents made up for the bad apple, they were all there for you and they seemed happy to give speeches and give the love and empathy that you so badly needed at that time. I adored this book, I didn't even know you were writing and when I saw you on the View I went to Amazon and bought my copy right away. Thank you so much for your inside details and the strength to relive it all just for all of us. Once John got ill later we didn't have a chance to really know too much. Now you have done a beautiful job of clearing all of that up and explaining all that went on during his sickness and then the funerals. This book is so brave, so outright honest and so lovely anyone would love it and I recommend it strongly. I learned a lot from you and I am just a few months older than you. If we look at the world that way, we can all learn from each other, I never stop learning and I never stop giving and caring, and trying to get others to do the same. I am from Tucson Arizona, my dad was in the Air Force and stationed at Davis for a while, and I was born in Davis Air Force Hosp. in Tucson. It cost my parents 8 dollars to have me. I still laugh about that one. I think maybe you should run for President, we need a woman, and you have so much knowledge and have been all over the world, people would love you. Thanks for the book it was a wonderful read, now I am sorry it is over. I highly recommend this book to everyone and anyone, no matter your race political standing or religious affiliation. It is excellent and you can also learn a lot as she has really done some difficult work.
Refreshingly honest.Family. Politics. Military. History.A strong, smart and courageous woman.
